How can I reduce hyperopia from Lasik?
I am sorry to hear this happened! Hyperopia after LASIK for myopia (nearsightedness) means you were overcorrected, that is, you are now farsighted. Reading glasses (plus Rx) would probably help.
Can I assume this happened recently and not many years ago?
Why
hasn't your doctor offered to fix this? Overcorrection with LASIK can happen to
anyone but is uncommon. Still, you are not necessarily stuck with it. I do not
know the particulars of your individual situation, but it is not usually
particularly difficult or risky to treat the overcorrection with either a LASIK
enhancement or PRK on the surface of a healed flap. Most all LASIK surgeons do
this for free as part of the post-op care.
