If I choose conventional IOL implant despite astigmatism, will I preserve my near vision and get some distance improvement?
It greatly depends upon your present, pre-operative spectacle Rx (refraction).
If you have a great deal of astigmatism, both near and far vision will be compromised. If you are myopic (nearsighted), you will definitely lose your good uncorrected near vision -although you will gain uncorrected distance vision.
