Is -12.0 vision curable through Lasik?
The original FDA
indications for the first excimer lasers were to treat up to -12 Diopters of
myopia. However, in the intervening years it has become apparent to most
ophthalmologists that -12 is probably too high to do safely for the long term.
While there would be some argument as to the exact cut-off, most reputable
LASIK surgeons will not recommend it to myopic patients over about -7 Diopters.
