Is there any way to slow the progression of cataracts in the eyes?

Unfortunately, there really isn't in all but the rarest cases. [If you are developing cataracts due to taking oral steroids, stopping them will often halt the progression of the cataract.]

Cataract development is more akin to aging, like getting gray hair, so it is not amenable to treatment the way a disease might be. Still, there are a number of common sense things you can do to protect your eyes in general like wearing UV protection sunglasses.
