Is there anything we can do to avoid cataract operations which seem to be common in later life?
About the only
thing that would accomplish this (while not accepting the decreased visual
function in cataract development) would be some sort of chemical/medical
treatment to prevent the hardening and discoloration of the natural lens of the
eye. While there have been many dodgy, non-Rx eye drops promoted over the years
to do this, none of them work. Perhaps someday such a medicine might
become a reality but for now it is just a concept.
